50-state street legal K&N FIPK Air Intake System

50-state street legal K&N FIPK Air Intake System 57-9031 includes a new K&N air filter and intake tube, but retains the factory air box to keep all emissions equipment intact

Introduced in 2007, the second generation Toyota Tundra was designed to shake up the American full-size truck market. Unlike their previous attempt, this Tundra was just as big as an F-150 or Silverado, and it could be ordered with a more American-sized 5.7-liter i-Force V8 engine. With 381-hp and 401 ft-lb of torque, the towing and payload capacity of the 2007-2013 Toyota Tundra 5.7L was now on-par with its more powerful domestic rivals. The 2008-2013 Toyota Sequoia also got a similar size and practicality increase. But the Toyota iForce 5.7L V8 is actually capable of a whole lot more, and the K&N 57-9031 street legal FIPK Performance Air Intake has been specifically engineered to unlock your big Yoda's true potential.

An engine makes power by burning a mixture of air and fuel inside the cylinders. So when you add a larger amount of cold air to that air/fuel mix, the extra oxygen molecules in the cold air will cause the fuel to combust with more force. This 'force' translates to horsepower and torque, and it can be achieved using roughly the same amount of fuel. To do this, the K&N 57-9031 FIPK Performance Air Intake System replaces the narrow factory intake tube with a free-flowing roto-molded K&N intake tube. The smooth interior of this large diameter polyethylene tube reduces air turbulence, and allows more air to flow directly into the throttle body with less restriction.

The K&N 57-Series FIPK Performance Intake System utilizes the factory air box, which not only makes for a quick installation, even less than the usual 90 minutes, but it also makes this K&N intake system completely street legal in all 50 states. This design allows the factory emissions equipment to be left unmodified, so this kit has been issued an Exemption Order (EO) number by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to validate its compliance with state laws.

2012 Toyota Tundra 5.7-liter i-Force V8 Air Intake Dyno

To verify performance gains, K&N 57-9031 FIPK Air Intake System was installed on a 2012 Toyota Tundra 5.7L, and dyno testing showed an estimated gain of 5.87 HP and 12.97 ft-lb of torque

To feed the K&N intake system a higher volume of cold air, a free-flowing K&N performance air filter is installed inside the factory air box. This reusable cotton gauze air filter allows more air to enter the system than an OEM paper air filter. Yet, the oil treated filter media is able to attract and trap considerably more contaminants, yielding excellent filtration efficiency.

Because the sticky cotton fibers, pleated into a large surface area, can hold onto the dirt without impeding airflow, you can drive for up to 50,000 miles before the filter needs to be cleaned. However, if you drive in dusty/dirty conditions, we recommend that you inspect the filter more often.

To verify the performance gains, we installed a K&N 57-9031 FIPK Air Intake System on a 2012 Toyota Tundra 5.7L, and dyno testing showed an estimated gain of 5.87 horsepower and 12.97 ft-lb of torque. The improved airflow also sharpens the throttle response, which will make towing and hauling heavy loads in your Tundra/Sequoia, considerably easier. But obviously, your individual results may vary, based on the modifications, mileage, and overall condition of your specific truck.

This K&N air intake system is backed by a 10-Year/million mile limited warranty. This K&N 57-Series FIPK Performance Air Intake System can give your Toyota 5.7L i-Force, a lot more 50-state legal 'force', for many years to come. K&N also makes a lot of other performance parts for your 2007-2013 Toyota Tundra, or 2008-2013 Toyota Sequoia. To check them out, click here to use the K&N Search by Vehicle Tool.
