After nearly a two month delay, the rescheduled NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Northwest Division, Les Schwab Challenge event at Woodburn Dragstrip, is finally in the books. In Competition Eliminator, driving his new Cobalt, K&N sponsored Jeff Lane recorded his fourth win of the season with a time of 8.012 at 155.73 mph over Brandon Huhtala.

"The win at Woodburn, Oregon was incredible. Our 2011 Cobalt was running the fastest passes we have ever recorded. Brandon was running extremely well also, so it was a lot of fun racing him in the final," Lane told K&N News.

"Actually, running against Randy Jones in the first round of this race was the real pressure cooker. If Randy were to have won the race, he would have been the only person that could have caught us for the points lead for the Division 6 Competition Eliminator Championship. Fortunately, we had a .00 light, won the round and secured the divisional championship. This made the rest of the day a lot of fun without the pressure, and we continued to roll through eliminations with better reaction times and performance than our competitors each round afterwards."

The fourth win of the season at Woodburn Dragstrip also positioned the Hancock and Lane Racing team in the top ten for the national points chase. Unfortunately for the team, all the remaining races which would have allowed them to gain even more points were back east. This left them with only one more national event, the finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, the NHRA dragstrip located at the Los Angeles County Fairplex near Pomona, California.

"We ended the season number six nationally, Division 6 Champions, we won four races, we are leading the Jegs All-Star points series, and we set a new National E.T. and MPH record at 7.94 at 171.69 mph," added Lane.

With the remainder of this year Lane is already busy implementing his plans for the 2012 season. "We are building a new Super Stock Cavalier for my son Cody to drive next season when his college schedule permits, and I will drive it along with our Cobalt when he can't," says Lane. "It is a lot of fun, but a tremendous amount of work building a new car. The Cavalier should turn out for us to be the coolest car we have had to date. We will be traveling more next year and I can hardly wait for the season to get started!"
