In his seventh career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) start, Kyle Benjamin was able to grab the checkered flag just ahead of William Byron and the #9 Liberty University Chevrolet. Jesse Little, son of former NASCAR Cup Series driver Chad Little, started the race from the pole position. Little won the 21 Means 21 Pole Award presented by Coors Lite with his qualifying time of 15.891 at 120.748 miles per hour. Little made light contact with the wall, followed by mechanical problems which ended his race early.

William Byron recently dominated the NKNPSE Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 at Greenville Pickens by leading every single lap. Byron started the PittLite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway from the fourth position but quickly sailed past Little, Brandon Jones, and Daniel Hemric to take the lead. Byron would hold onto the lead until a caution flag came out on lap 44 and eventual race winner Kyle Benjamin worked his way to the front. Benjamin was able to hold off Byron for 81 laps, however, Byron didn’t make it easy on him. Byron and Benjamin raced side-by-side for the last thirty laps of the PittLite 125 with Benjamin crossing the finish line just .910 seconds ahead of Byron.

Winner of the PittLite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kyle Benjamin commented on his battle with Byron after the race. It was “A really tough battle. He (Byron) has been really strong all year. I was worried about him a little bit,” said Benjamin. Benjamin was ecstatic about winning, especially at Bristol Motor Speedway. The .533 mile high-banked oval is notoriously difficult, and Benjamin said “Bristol Motor Speedway is one of the toughest tracks on the schedule.”

Scott Heckert, who successfully won NKNPSE races at Watkins Glen and Virginia International Speedway last season, brought it in for the number three position. Kaz Grala, in the Kiklos Toyota, and Brandon Jones, in the MasterForce Tool Storage Chevrolet, round out the top five. William Byron has taken the lead in the points standings, followed closely by Austin Hill and Kyle Benjamin.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will head to Iowa Speedway for the Casey's General Store 150 on May 16th. This particular race will pit NASCAR K&N Pro Series East against racers from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in a head to head battle.
